Board of Directors

Tonine Andrews

Past Turner Twelve member Tonine Andrews is currently a senior at the University of North Texas. She is an interdisciplinary Studies major and her certification will be Early Childhood through sixth grade generalist.

She loves being able to touch the lives of her future students and is excited about making a difference in communities just like the one she comes from.

After graduating in December of 2011, Tonine plans to work in education in the Dallas community and later attend graduate school to obtain a Masters in Administration.

Dr. Kathalene Harris

Kathalene Harris, a Clinical Manager of Respiratory Care at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and educator for Texas Woman's University and the University of Phoenix, brings over 15 years experience in higher education to the Turner Twelve board.

Harris’ values of commitment and excellence are apparent. Harris joined the board in 2005, as a result of her belief that we all have the ability to be great leaders. She wanted to share positive messages of hope and encouragement with youth.

Jana Hicks-Taylor

Jana Hicks, an attorney and partner with Karel & Hicks, P.C., brings nearly ten years of legal experience to the board.

Jana joined the Turner Twelve board because of her passion for working with teens, and helping them recognize their strengths.

Jana is a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church.

Craig Jones

Craig Jones, President of NAI Robert Lynn, brings over 15 years of experience to the Turner Twelve board.

Craig joined the organization, and ultimately the board, because of the extraordinary positive impact the program has on the lives of its students.

Craig and his wife, Cissy, have three children: Hudson, Elle, and Georgia. They attend Highland Park United Methodist Church.

Earl Jones

Earl Jones, Principal for Lincoln High School, brings over 25 years of experience to the Turner Twelve board.

Jones' wisdom, passion for excellence and developing the capacity of our youth, has been instrumental in preparing Turner Twelve students for challenges and setting them up for academic success.

Jones, a member of the Lakeview Assembly of God, joined the Turner Twelve board because he was impressed by the program and the potential benefits that the student would receive by being a part of the program.

Renee Jackson-Smith

Renee Jackson-Smith, a human resources and training professional, brings over eight years of training experience to the Turner Twelve board. Smith’s strengths and contribution to the board include curriculum development, project management, and mentoring.

Smith joined the board in 2003, as a result of her desire to give back to the community and to lend a helping to help others achieve their goals and dreams.

Smith is a member of Friendship-West Baptist Church.

David A. Stone
Chairman

The founder and president of First Rate, Dave Stone brings over 25 years of experience to the Turner Twelve board.

Stone, a board member since 2000, joined the board in order to support the influential work in the lives of young students.

Dave is a member of Fielder Rest Baptist Church.

Staff

John Carter
Executive Director

From 1984-1991, John Carter was a sports writer for the Dallas Times Herald and volunteered extensively in the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). He later resigned from the Herald and for the next eight years served as an educator for DISD.

In the spring of 2000, Carter founded The Turner Twelve.
